- Can potassium perchlorate and sodium iodine influence Iodine-131 uptake in Cholangiocarcinoma?Publication . Brito, A. F.; Puga, T.; Teixo, R.; Fernandes, A.; Brito, A. F.; Abrantes, A. M.; Metelo, Luís Francisco; Tralhão, J. G.; Botelho, M. F.Cholangiocarcinoma (CC) is a malignancy with poor prognostic, high mortality and limited treatment options, reason why the development of novel treatment strategies by exploiting new targets might be considered as consensually relevant. In fact, it was shown that CC expressed the sodium iodine symporter (NIS), which is responsible for iodine uptake by the cells. NIS is also the responsible for the uptake of iodine-131 (131I) in thyroid tumor and benign diseases, enabling the metabolic radiotherapy and opening possibilities of new treatment approaches for CC.
- Parameters optimization of filtered back projection in Myocardial Perfusion Imaging reconstructionPublication . Metelo, Luís Francisco; Cunha, L.; Vieira, Domingos; Fonseca, A.; Tavares, A.; Soares, S.; Amorim, I.; Castro, R.; Abrantes, A. M.; Botelho, M. F.Nowadays, even if it is noticed an increasingly wider use of Iterative Methods (IM), a significant number of NM Departments is still routinely using Filtered Backprojection (FBP) as the method of choice in what concerns image processing in MPI. Several authors recommend the use of same filter parameters, no matter what the patient physical characteristics are.
