Abstract(s)
A economia portuguesa regista nos Ășltimos anos uma enorme âturbulĂȘnciaâ,
que foi em grande parte motivada pela constante transformação dos mercados,
sobretudo dos financeiros. Torna-se entĂŁo, fundamental que as empresas apostem na
modernidade, na competitividade e na inovação. A atual crise econĂłmica faz âdispararâ
os nĂveis de desemprego e nesta perspetiva o empreendedorismo pode assumir um
papel fundamental na compensação do mesmo. Este fenómeno pode ser visto como
um elemento de desenvolvimento que contribui de uma forma positiva para o aumento
da competitividade na economia, gerando riqueza e emprego. Por outro lado, pode
tambĂ©m originar estabilidade social, uma vez, que se foca na polĂtica econĂłmica e
industrial, abrangendo quer a criação de novos negócios quer o desenvolvimento de
novas oportunidades de negócio em organizaçÔes jå existentes. O espirito empresarial
é também um grande impulsionador da inovação.
O objetivo deste trabalho Ă© analisar as causas e as consequĂȘncias do
empreendedorismo no Concelho de Vila do Conde entre os anos de 2005 e 2011, para
se identificarem os aspetos que assumem particular relevĂąncia.
Quanto Ă metodologia usada para estudar as causas deste fenĂłmeno, optamos
pela elaboração de um inquĂ©rito a todos os empreendedores atrĂĄs referidos, quanto Ă
metodologia utilizada para estudar as consequĂȘncias, optamos pela elaboração de um
estudo económico-financeiro comparativo entre empresas de criação recentes e
empresas de criação mais antiga.
Com a realização deste estudo, verificamos que, no que concerne às causas, o
empreendedorismo nĂŁo estĂĄ associado a um mecanismo de refĂșgio para os
desempregados e ainda que a auto-realização é a principal motivação para a criação
dos novos negĂłcios. No que concerne Ă s consequĂȘncias, observamos que as
empresas mais recentes apresentam pior performance econĂłmico-financeira que as
mais antigas.
The Portuguese economy recorded in recent years a huge "turbulence", which was largely driven by rapidly changing markets, especially in the financial field. In this environment, it is then crucial that companies to engage in modernity, competitiveness and innovation. The current economic crisis has "triggered" the levels of unemployment and in this perspective, entrepreneurship can play a key role in clearing it. Thie entrepreneurship phenomenon can be seen as an element of development that contributes in a positive way to increased competitiveness in the economy, generating wealth and jobs. On the other hand, it can also create social stability as it focuses on economic and industrial policy, covering both the creation of new businesses and the development of new business opportunities in existing organizations. The entrepreneurial spirit is also a major driver of innovation. The objective of this work is to analyze the causes and consequences of entrepreneurship in the municipality of Vila do Conde between the years 2005 and 2011, in order to identify those aspects that are of particular relevance. Regarding the methodology used to study the causes of this phenomenon, we opted for the preparation of a survey to all the entrepreneurs mentioned above, regarding the methodology used to study the consequences, consisted in the preparation of a comparative study between recent business creation and older business creation. With this study, we found that, with regard to the causes, entrepreneurship is not associated with a refuge for the unemployed and self-realization is the main motivation for the creation of new businesses. Regarding the consequences we observe that the newer companies have worse performance than older.
