Abstract(s)
The main focus of this project was to achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency through continuous process improvement in the ever so increasingly competitive field of heavy duty vehicle distribution. The project being presented in this report was developed at Auto-Sueco, Lda. in the Heavy Duty Vehicle Distribution and Planning activities. The project´s main goal was the optimization of logistics management and process organizational development in the department, including the development of the tools necessary to enhance the department´s overall performance. The project started with the process mapping of all heavy duty vehicle distribution activities in the Department including New Vehicle Distribution, Used Vehicle Distribution and Product Engineering Support. The analysis of the completed process map identified the critical points in the everyday workflow of heavy duty vehicle preparation and sales. The project identified several opportunities for optimization and process improvement in the Department that will be reflected in greater customer satisfaction and overall business results. All recommended solutions are based on reducing production times and costs, improving process quality, and continuously improving staff service levels.
