Abstract(s)
O presente Relatório de Estágio foi elaborado no âmbito do Mestrado em Património, Artes e Turismo Cultural, da Escola Superior de Educação, do Politécnico do Porto. Através deste trabalho de investigação, desenvolvido no Museu do ISEP, pretende-se fazer um levantamento de dados, dos registos de alunas a frequentar o Ensino Industrial, na cidade do Porto, na segunda metade do século XIX.
Como metodologia de trabalho foi definido, no início da investigação, que, o período de análise seria de 1852, quando a Escola Industrial do Porto foi inaugurada, precursora do ISEP, até ao ano de 1900. Para este estudo foi feito o levantamento e interpretação rigorosa de toda a documentação no Arquivo Histórico, relativo às Matrículas dos Alunos, abrangendo o Registo dos Exames, das Menções Honoríficas e de Capacidade (fontes primárias). O objetivo principal foi saber da existência de alunas matriculadas, no período definido e, em caso positivo, contabilizá-las. Face aos dados recolhidos seria feito uma análise destas alunas, caso fossem encontradas. Segundo a sua responsável, até à presente data, nunca tinha sido realizado este levantamento no Arquivo Histórico.
Após a conclusão desta etapa do Estágio, reuniu-se os registos da presença de 13 mulheres-estudantes, neste tipo de Ensino (Industrial e Comercial), com informações relativas ao aproveitamento e Menções Honoríficas atribuídas a algumas alunas. Destaca-se, como curiosidade, a primeira aluna matriculada no Instituto Industrial do Porto, no ano letivo de 1884/1885, de seu nome Josephina Baptista Azeredo da Cruz, professora da instrução primária.
Relativamente, ao Relatório foi estruturado em quatro Capítulos. Sendo que o primeiro, visa fundamentalmente, o levantamento de informação, apresentação da entidade de acolhimento, e plano de atividades realizadas. O segundo incide no sistema de ensino, desde o Primário, Secundário e Artístico, e as respetivas características, mas, dando maior enfoque no Ensino Industrial. Como contextualização histórica, destaca-se ainda a criação da Escola Industrial do Porto e as suas várias Denominações. O terceiro, refere-se à situação da mulher em contexto familiar, social e económico. O último Capítulo é dedicado exclusivamente ao cerne da questão desta investigação, ou seja, saber quem eram estas mulheres-estudantes.
This internship Report was written to complete the Master in Heritage, Arts and Cultural Tourism, from the School of Education of Porto. The research work, developed at the Museum of ISEP, aimed at collecting data concerning the admission of female students who attended the industrial education in the city of Porto, in the second half of the nineteenth century. In the beginning of this investigation, the period defined to be taken into account was from 1852 (the year Escola Industrial do Porto, precursor of ISEP, was inaugurated) to 1900. All the documents of the Historic Archive which concerned the enrolment of the students, the Register for Exams, the Honourable Mentions and the Certificates of achievements (primary sources) were thoroughly examined and interpreted. The main aim was to verify the number of female students admitted in that period of time. According to the person responsible for the Archive, this data had never been collected. After the conclusion of this stage of the internship, it was possible to gather records of thirteen female students enrolled in this type of education (industrial and commercial). The records include information about their achievements and the honourable mentions some students had. Josephina Baptista Azevedo da Cruz, a primary school teacher, stands out as the first female student who attended the Instituto Industrial do Porto in the academic year of 1884/1885. This report has four Chapters. Fundamentally, the first chapter aims at gathering information, presenting the internship entity and the plan of activities carried out. The second one focuses on the education system: The Primary Education, the Secondary and the Artistic Education and their characteristics, yet giving more importance to the Industrial Education. The historical context highlights the founding of Escola Industrial do Porto and the several Denominations it had throughout the years. The third Chapter is about the position of women in the family, social and economic context. The last Chapter is fully devoted to the main topic of this investigation, that is, to get to know who these female students were.
