Abstract(s)
The automobile industry creates a wide range of jobs and opportunities nowadays, either being directly or indirectly. Besides the traditional production-related sectors, like press, body paintshops and assembly lines, there is a whole supply-chain behind, responsible to produce and deliver the necessary components and parts required at the different stages of production. This supply-chain counts with numerous companies. When it comes to the automobile industry, keywords like competitiveness, repeatability, quality and delivery schedules are mottos and a very important part of the foundations of every company. The production of components for the automobile sector is therefore extremely demanding. Aligning the customer’s needs with the processes required to achieve competitiveness, repeatability and quality desired is in general a difficult and very demanding task. The main purpose of the work here presented, is to identify the core problems inherent to the assembly lines, with regard to the manual report of materials, identification of optimal manufacturing sequence as well as the accomplishment of the planned manufacturing orders. After every pros and cons were considered, the installation of electronic sequencers in the assembly lines was carried on, in order to solve all previously mentioned problems. The implementation of electronic sequencers at FicoCables production sites is now in an advanced stage of progress, taking into consideration that the majority of the assembly lines are currently operating with this technology.
