Abstract(s)
The automotive industry is always changing. Each day are developed vehicles with more artificial intelligence and with more features. The communications that are being used, have more variety, more speed and more safety. The safety in a vehicle is a high priority and Bosch always have a fundamental concern to develop safety solutions, like Electronic Stability Program (ESP). This is a system which helps the driver to not lose the control of the vehicle, with the introduction of some sensors in the car. One of this sensors is the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS), which has the purpose of give the angle of the steering wheel. The communication between the SAS and ESP typically is made by Controller Area Network (CAN), which was developed by Bosch and it is very robust. With the evolution of technologies, the manufacturers will change the communication inside their vehicle, to have more transmission speed. Then appears the Flexible Data rate Controller Area Network (CAN FD), which is an evolution of CAN, but allow to send data faster. This communication protocol is already implemented in some applications by automotive manufacturers, and in a near future the CAN FD will be the only versions. Because of this, Bosch propose a concept proof in Hardware (HW) level, a new versions of SAS but with CAN FD.
