Esta dissertação é uma busca pela expansão das capacidades sonoras da bateria. São apresentadas obras onde a bateria entra em diálogo com instrumentos e técnicas comumente usadas na música contemporânea actual. É dada uma abordagem histórica e estética ao instrumento e à composição para este. Por fim são apresentadas as obras compostas e as técnicas utilizadas na bateria para a escrita das mesmas.
This dissertation is a research on the expansion of the drums' sonic capabilities. In the works presented the drums enter into a dialogue with instruments and instrumental techniques commonly used in the contemporary music context. A short historical and aesthetic review is presented in relation to the instrument as well as some works previously composed for the drum kit following the same direction of though. Finally, a thorough presentation of my compositional work and the techniques used is presented.
