Abstract(s)
The arrival of the industry 4.0 comes to endow the machines with a sensorial and communicational capacity, which allows monitoring and collecting large amounts of information. These data have an impact on planning, management and maintenance, enabling real-time feedback, improving efficiency, and developing predictive and process improvement models. The latest machines are ready to communicate with existing monitoring systems, but many have not yet. They need electrical changes and / or software and specialized interventions. Another difficulty is related to the cost / profitability ratio, when the acquisition of a monitoring system is equated. Existing systems have many functionalities, however, the cost is proportional. The objective of this work is to develop a system that meets the requirements of low cost, simplicity and flexibility, for the remote monitoring of productive equipment, in real time. The system will monitor the equipment in a simple and agile way, regardless of its sophistication, and the installation and manufacturing resources. In addition to the technical validation, it is also objective, to validate through a Business Plan, the creation of a new company for the commercialization of the new product. A prototype of a system was developed and tested in laboratory and productive environment. The system consists of a sensor that transmits the wireless signal from the machine to a gateway that collects all existing signals. The gateway sends the information to a server and through a website, the user consults the current state of the machine, the stop history and some indicators. The results of the simulations validated the prototype of the system, with a point related to the communication between gateway and server to be improved in the future. The financial analysis model of the Business Plan was validated (moderate perspective) with an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 55,87%, a Return On Investment (ROI) (sixth year) of 45%, a Net Present Value (NPV) of 293.670 €, a Payback of 4 years and a Break-Even of 3 years. The Business Plan won the 1st place of the Program for Promotion of Entrepreneurship from the Polytechnic of Oporto (PPEPP), in July 2018.
