Segundo a lei portuguesa, as empresas e as organizações devem implementar planos e
objetivos para erradicar a discriminação de género e implementar medidas que
contribuem para o equilibrio entre a vida profissional e a vida pessoal dos trabalhadores.
A comunicação é uma das áreas imprescindíveis para a promoção e reforço da igualdade
de género na sociedade e nas organizações. Por este motivo, o principal objetivo deste
trabalho é estudar a presença feminina nos departamentos de comunicação dos institutos
de ensino superior públicos do Grande Porto. A fim de atingir este objetivo, foi usada
uma abordagem de natureza quantitativa, com os dados a serem recolhidos através de um
inquérito por questionário. Dos 21 departamentos de comunicação do Politécnico do
Porto e da Universidade do Porto, responderam, no total, 15 pessoas. A análise das
repostas ao questionário possibilitou compreender que os institutos de ensino superior
públicos do Grande Porto necessitam divulgar os planos e os objetivos que visam a
erradicação da discriminação de género para conhecimento dos seus trabalhadores ou
criar, implementar e divulgar planos de ação e objetivos para eliminar a discriminação de
género.
According to Portuguese law, companies and organizations must implement plans and goals to eradicate gender discrimination, implement measures that contribute to the balance between the professional and personal lives of workers. Communication is one of the most efficiente areas for promoting and strengthening gender equality in society and organisations. For this reason, the main objective of this paper is to study the female presence in the communication departments of public colleges and universities in Grande Porto. In order to achieve this goal, a quantitative methodology based on an online questionnaire was used, to which 15 people from the 21 communication departments of the Politécnico Porto and the Universidade do Porto responded. The analysis of the responses to the questionnaire made it possible to understand that the public universities and colleges of Grande Porto need to disclose the plans and goals aimed at eradicating gender discrimination for the knowledge of their workers or, create, implement and disseminate action plans and goals to eliminate gender discrimination.
