Abstract(s)
Com este projeto, foi feita uma recolha de obras relacionadas com um dos trompistas mais importantes do século XX, Dennis Brain.
A escolha deste tema proveio de uma curiosidade performativa que me motivou a estudar e a trabalhar com diferentes professores este repertório.
Para ter uma noção histórica deste grande nome da história da trompa, foi feita uma contextualização, onde destaco momentos importantes da vida de Dennis Brain e dos compositores relacionados.
Nem todas estas obras lhe foram dedicadas. Poderemos ver nos capítulos mais à frente que algumas foram dedicadas, outras compostas em homenagem e muitas delas simplesmente estreadas por Brain.
De seguida, foram anotadas algumas caraterísticas gerais de cada obra que selecionei. Estas anotações dizem respeito aos andamentos, tessitura, dinâmicas, claves, e técnicas especiais utilizadas.
É pretendido com este projeto complementar o meu recital final de mestrado, pois parte do repertório selecionado foi trabalhado e apresentado nessa prova.
With this project, a collection of works related to one of the greatest horn players of the twentieth century, Dennis Brain, were gathered for analysis and interpretation. The choice of this theme came from a performative curiosity that motivated me to study and work with different teachers this repertoire. To get a sense of the history of this great name of the french horn’s history, a contextualization was made, where I highlight important moments of the life of Dennis Brain and the related composers. Not all these works were dedicated to D.Brain. We will be able to see in the chapters ahead that some were dedicated, others composed in homage and many of them simply premiered by Dennis Brain. Then some general characteristics were noted, regarding each work I selected. These notes concern the movements, tessitura, dynamics, clefs, and special techniques used. It is intended with this project to complement my final master’s recital, as the selected repertoire was worked and presented in that perfomance
