O Instituto Federal Farroupilha – campus Santa Rosa está inserido numa região com uma matriz produtiva na área da metalmecânica bastante forte. De entre os cursos ofertados, o Curso Técnico em Eletromecânica tem uma grande relevância dentro da região, pelo grande número de indústrias e em-presas do ramo metalmecânico. Partindo de uma necessidade regional, identi-ficada através de consulta popular, o curso foi aguardado, com grande expec-tativa, desde a implantação do campus até à inserção de profissionais no mer-cado do trabalho. Tendo como pano de fundo este enquadramento socioeco-nômico, emergiu o intuito de investigar a contribuição do Curso Técnico em Eletromecânica na formação pessoal e profissional dos egressos, buscando destacar o incremento desta qualificação técnica nas atividades profissionais, na valorização pessoal, bem como a sua importância social para a região. Con-siderando estes objetivos gerais definiu-se ainda um conjunto encadeado de objetivos específicos, nomeadamente: (i) caracterizar as trajetórias educacio-nal e profissional dos alunos aquando do ingresso no curso, (ii) identificar as principais motivações para o ingresso e frequência, (iii) caracterizar a trajetó-ria profissional dos alunos após o término do curso e, (iv) avaliar o grau de satisfação dos alunos egressos face ao curso. Para a prossecução destes obje-tivos desenvolveu-se um estudo de caso aprofundado do curso, instituição e estudantes egressos que concluíram o curso no ano letivo 2016/2017. As téc-nicas de investigação privilegiadas foram: o inquérito por questionário e a entrevista. O inquérito por questionário aplicado aos estudantes egressos pretendeu caracterizar o perfil sociográfico dos estudantes do curso, bem como obter informação sobre as dificuldades para o ingresso, permanência e êxito e os devidos esforços para superar dificuldades e grau de satisfação na conclusão do curso. Complementarmente, realizou-se um conjunto de entre-vistas, de cariz semidiretivo, com o objetivo de aprofundar informação, no-meadamente sobre dificuldades, incentivos, momentos marcantes, aprendi-zagens decorrentes da frequência do curso.

Among the courses offered, the Technical Degree in Electromechanics has a great relevance with-in the region by the large number of industries and companies of the metal-mechanical branch. Starting from a regional need, identified through popular consultation, the course was awaited with great expectation since the estab-lishment of the campus until the professional insertion in the labor market. Having as background this socioeconomic context, emerged the intention to investigate the contribution of the Technical Degree in Electromechanics in the personal and professional formation of the graduates, seeking to highlight the increase of this technical qualification in professional activities, in person-al appreciation and its social importance to the region. Taking these general objectives into account, a chained set of specific objectives were defined, namely: (i) characterize the educational and professional trajectories of the students when entering the course, (ii) identify the main motivations for join and attendance in the course, (iii) to characterize the professional trajectory of the students after the end of the course and, (iv) to evaluate the degree of satisfaction of the students graduating front the course. To the pursuit of these targets, a deepened case study was developed about the course, insti-tution and the students who graduated from the course in the academic year of 2016/2017. The preferential research techniques were the questionnaire survey and the interview. The questionnaire survey applied to graduated stu-dents intended to characterize the sociographic profile of the students of the course, as well as get information about the difficulties for admission, perma-nence and success and the proper efforts to overcome difficulties and degree of satisfaction at the conclusion of the course. Complementarily, a set of semi-directive interviews were carried out with the objective of deepening infor-mation, namely on difficulties, incentives, memorable moments, learning due to the course attendance.
