Esta investigação visa identificar e analisar os desafios enfrentados pelos jovens recém licenciados da sub-região do Tâmega e Sousa ao ingressarem no mercado de trabalho. A
pesquisa, exploratória e transversal, combina metodologias qualitativas, através de
entrevistas, e quantitativas, através do inquérito por questionário. As entrevistas e o
questionário foram realizados entre os dias 6 de abril e 18 de maio de 2024, abrangendo
um público-alvo com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 30 anos e recém-licenciados.
A sub-região do Tâmega e Sousa, composta por 11 municípios com uma população jovem
significativa, serve de foco para este estudo exploratório devido à sua demografia e
facilidade de acesso aos participantes. A amostra inclui jovens de ambos os sexos, com
idades entre 20 e 30 anos, como referido, que concluíram a licenciatura nos últimos seis
anos.
O fator distintivo desta investigação reside no facto de se ter analisado os desafios
enfrentados pelos jovens recém-licenciados da sub-região do Tâmega e Sousa no acesso
ao mercado de trabalho, identificando as discrepâncias entre as competências adquiridas
durante a formação académica e as exigências do mercado de trabalho, com o objetivo de
contribuir para a criação de ambientes mais favoráveis à sua inserção profissional.
Os resultados obtidos, com uma amostra maioritariamente do sexo feminino (66%) na
faixa etária de 20 a 25 anos, destacam a precariedade no emprego, com 33 participantes
em contratos a termo certo. Estes resultados sugerem a necessidade de políticas de apoio
mais eficazes, melhorias nos serviços de inserção profissional e maior integração de
experiências práticas no currículo académico que ajudem a preparar melhor os jovens
para as exigências do mercado de trabalho.
This research aims to identify and analyze the challenges faced by young graduates from the Tâmega e Sousa sub-region when entering the job market. The research, exploratory and transversal, combines qualitative methodologies, through interviews, and quantitative, through questionnaire surveys. The interviews and questionnaire were carried out between April 6th and May 18th, 2024, covering a target audience aged between 20 and 30 years old and recent graduates. The Tâmega e Sousa subregion, made up of 11 municipalities with a significant young population, serves as the focus for this exploratory study duet its demographic and ease access to participants. As said, the sample includes young people of both sexes, aged between 20 and 30 years old, who completed a superior degree in the last six years. The distinctive factor of this research lies in the fact that it analyzed the challenges faced by young recent graduates from the Tâmega and Sousa region entering the job market, identifying discrepancies between the skills acquired during academic training and the demands of the job market, with the aim of contribute to the creation of more favorable environments for their professional insertion. The results obtained, with a sample composed mostly by women (66%), aged 20 to 25, highlight the precariousness of employment, with 33 participants on fixed-term contracts. These results suggest the need for the creation of more effective support policies, the implementation of improvements in professional insertion services and a greater integration of practical experiences into the academic curriculum to better help prepare young people for the demands of the job market.
