| dc.description.abstract | Este projeto de investigação coloca a relação humano-entidades artificiais, a crença animista e a sua morte como foco de desenvolvimento artístico. Através de uma obra audiovisual enquadrada na arte de instalação, pretende-se explorar os vínculos cria dos pela interação com robotic others e objetos inanimados, o consequente sentimento de perda e as práticas fúnebres - rituais de separação (kuyo) - que resultam da ‘morte’ destas entidades. Com isto, levanta-se a possibilidade destes robotic others terem direitos, respeito e sentido de agência. Isto acarreta desafios para as categorias ontológicas tradicionais, enquanto coloca a questão se este tipo de seres é provido de anima/espírito, e/ou se os podemos considerar como ‘vivos’/‘mortos’. Partindo de uma entidade artificial não-fictícia - o Honda Civic VI Fastback - como objeto de culto, a instalação procura debater questões sobre as possibilidades de criação artística utilizadas para abordar, representar ou criar este tipo de relações e práticas memoriais animistas, passando por conceitos como luto, afeição, ritualidade e espiritualidade. O seu propósito final é fomentar a discussão e o pensamento crítico neste contexto, enquanto se admite a morte destas entidades e a possibilidade de existência de ‘espíritos artificiais’. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This research project focuses on the relationship between humans and artifi cial entities, animistic beliefs, and their death as central themes for artistic development. Through an audiovisual work framed within installation art, it aims to explore the bonds formed through interaction with robotic others and inanimate objects, the resulting sense of loss, and the funerary practices - separation rituals (kuyo) - that emerge from the ‘death’ of these entities. This raises the possibility that these robotic others might warrant rights, respect, and a sense of agency. It also challenges traditional ontological catego ries, questioning whether such beings possess anima/spirit, and whether we can consider them ‘dead’ or ‘alive’. By taking a non-fictional artificial entity - the Honda Civic VI Fastback - as a cult object, the installation delves into the artistic possibilities used to address, represent, or even create such relationships and animistic memorial practices, touching on concepts such as grief, affection, rituality, and spirituality. Ultimately, the project aims to encourage discussion and critical thinking on these topics, while acknowledging the death of these entities and the potential existence of ‘artificial spirits’. | pt_PT |
