O contínuo crescimento de mercado, obriga as empresas a procurarem novas soluções, de modo a manterem-se competitivas e conseguirem responder às necessidades da sociedade atual. A metodologia 5S revela-se, neste contexto, uma solução bastante positiva na mudança de hábitos de uma empresa, promovendo a melhoria contínua. O trabalho aqui apresentado foi desenvolvido, em contexto industrial, no Centro de Engenharia e Desenvolvimento de Produto (CEiiA), onde o objetivo principal era a melhoria do processo produtivo da Área de Engenharia e Produção (AEP) do CEiiA, através da implementação da metodologia 5S. Pretendia-se criar um posto de trabalho mais limpo, seguro e eficiente, e reduzir os desperdícios que acarretam custos para qualquer empresa. Fez-se um diagnóstico inicial da AEP, onde se analisou o processo produtivo e foram identificados os vários problemas de organização e limpeza existentes. Posteriormente, selecionou-se uma secção piloto e definiu-se um plano de ações de melhoria, para se dar início à implementação dos 5S. Por fim, foram feitas auditorias, com recurso a uma checklist, de forma a avaliar a evolução da implementação da metodologia 5S. Os resultados obtidos foram bastante positivos obtendo-se diversas melhorias qualitativas: redução do tempo à procura de ferramentas, desenvolvimento da noção de utilidade, redução do número de movimentações dos colaboradores, ambiente de trabalho mais saudável e seguro, entre outros. Quanto aos resultados quantitativos, obteve-se uma pontuação geral de 78,8%, relativo ao grau de implementação da metodologia 5S.
Continued market growth forces companies to seek new solutions in order to remain competitive and to respond to the needs of today's society. The 5S methodology reveals, in this context, a very positive solution in the change of habits of a company, promoting the continuous improvement. The work presented here was developed, in an industrial context, at the Center of Engineering and Product Development (CEiiA), where the main goal is to improve the production process of the Engineering and Production Area (AEP) of CEiiA, through the implementation of the 5S methodology. It is intended to create a cleaner, safer and more efficient workplace, and reduce waste that costs money to any company. An initial diagnosis was made of AEP, where the production process was analyzed, and the several problems of organization and cleaning were identified. After that, a pilot section was selected, and an improvement action plan was defined, to begin implementation of the 5S. Finally, audits were carried out, using a checklist, to evaluate the evolution of the implementation of the 5S methodology. The results obtained were very positive, getting several qualitative improvements: reduction of the time in search of tools, development of the notion of utility, reduction of the number of movements of workers, healthier and safer working environment, among others. Regarding the quantitative results, a general score of 78.8% was obtained, regarding the level of implementation of the 5S methodology.
