Abstract(s)
combater as alterações climáticas e melhorar o estado do nosso planeta.
and Green, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) e Science-Based Targets (SBT). As análises efetuadas
modelo concetual proposto.
Sustainable development is a topic of intense discussion, mainly due to climate change, pollution and the increase in waste, among other factors. The governments of various countries around the world have been setting environmental targets for emissions and consumption in order to combat climate change and improve the state of our planet. It is therefore necessary to have an environmental policy with the involvement of stakeholders. The literature review method, bibliometric analysis and visual mapping were applied to understand how these sustainable targets are formulated and used by companies to fulfil the limits proposed by governments. The Web of Science platform enabled the collection of data on Lean and Green, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Science-Based Targets (SBT). The analyses carried out identified the most relevant articles using the PRISMA method, including their authors, their temporal distribution and a correlation map using the VOSviewer tool. A study was carried out on the current state of Science Based Targets and a proposal was made for a new conceptual model to integrate Lean and Green and create new base KPIs to be applied to the definition of SBT targets in order to give companies a path and tools to achieve climate objectives efficiently. The research question that this dissertation aims to answer is to find out what impact Lean tools, Green tools, the use of Key Performance Indicators and Science Based Targets have on organizations and how these tools relate to each other. The methodology used to answer the research question was the survey method. The survey was aimed at Portuguese companies and 657 responses were obtained, with around 637 being valid due to data protection policies. The results showed that, in general, these tools have a positive impact on organizations at all three levels of sustainability. The Lean and KPI tools have a more significant impact on the economic level, with scores of 6.3 and 6.6 respectively, and the Green and SBT tools produce better results on the environmental level with scores of 7.0 and 6.4 respectively, on a scale where the maximum score is 8. A correlation analysis was also carried out and it was observed that the Lean and Green tools have several moderately strong correlations and that the KPIs and SBTs also have several correlations. Future research should focus on implementing the conceptual model (which integrates the Lean and Green tools with the best results in the questionnaire, as well as the basic KPIs defined) in various companies in order to test its impact, with a view to correcting and improving the proposed conceptual model.
