Abstract(s)
O presente relatório reflexivo, no âmbito do mestrado em Educação e Intervenção Social, tem por base a análise da realidade de um contexto de ERPI.
Perante o elevado índice de envelhecimento populacional e os desafios inerentes a esta fase da vida, é pertinente abordar o papel do idoso na sociedade, refletindo sobre as políticas protecionistas que se demonstram ainda insuficientes e pouco adequadas. Ademais, proponho-me a elaborar uma reflexão das práticas presentes nas instituições, um trabalho ainda mecanicista que revela pouco investimento na formação dos profissionais, não obstante também a escassez de recursos humanos - em particular técnicos sociais capazes de ver os idosos como seres atores-autores e de traçar e desenvolver planos individuais que estimulem as competências.
A meio desta experiência prática teve início a pandemia do Covid-19. Com a pandemia, estas e outras questões foram acentuadas ou descortinadas. Porém não foi apenas a realidade mais crua das ERPI que ficou a descoberto, mas também o papel do idoso na sociedade e a sua marginalização, reflexão esta também trazida neste relatório.
Todavia este momento atípico foi também promotor de reflexão e reorganização de prioridades e investimentos. Contrariamente a outros países, Portugal declarou Estado de Emergência e salvaguardou o bem-estar da população, combatendo ideologias de darwinismo social.
The following reflexive report, developed within the scope of the master’s degree in Education and Social Intervention, is based upon an analysis of the reality lived in an ERPI. Towards the high rate of an aging population and the challenges inherent in it, it’s pertinent to address the role of the elderly in present society by reflecting the protectionist policies applied; still insufficient and inadequate to current needs. Therefore, I propose to elaborate a reflection on the present practices applied in these institutions: taking in consideration the mechanistics of the job, the lack of investment in the professional’s training and the scarcity of human resources — in particular social technicians, capable of seeing the elderly as individuals who can participate in elaborate exercises that stimulate their skills. In the middle of this experience, the Covid-19 pandemic crisis struck, bringing attention to this and other issues who were either accentuated of unveiled. However, the crude reality of an ERPI wasn’t the only conflict detected — as the role & marginalization of the elderly in society per example; a reflection also brought upon this report. Nevertheless, this atypical moment was also a promoter of a more reflexive and a total reorganization of priorities and investments. Contrary to other countries, Portugal declared the State of Emergency, safeguarding the well-being of the population and fighting the ideologies of social Darwinism.
