| dc.description.abstract | O presente artigo consiste na análise da tradução para inglês do livro A Crise da Europa, de Abel Salazar e pretende explicar a metodologia utilizada no processo tradutivo e as opções que foram tomadas na produção do texto de chegada. O protocolo celebrado entre a Casa-Museu Abel Salazar e o ISCAP deu o mote a esta colaboração que tem como objetivo final a edição da obra traduzida, possibilitando que o legado de Abel Salazar esteja cada vez mais acessível a um número crescente de pessoas. Este trabalho pretende, não só, tornar disponível a obra do autor a novos públicos através da sua publicação na que é hoje a língua universal – o inglês –, mas também dar conta de quem foi Abel Salazar em toda a sua soberba pluralidade. O livro foi escrito entre 1937 e 1942, pelo que o desfasamento temporal que separam o autor da tradutora resultou, necessariamente, numa pesquisa sobre a evolução da língua portuguesa, tendo em conta os diversos acordos ortográficos que a têm vindo a modelar, como, de resto, tão bem o sentimos, neste momento particular. O distanciamento temporal entre o autor / texto fonte e o tradutor / texto de chegada é, igualmente, analisado com recurso a exemplos que o demonstram e clarificam a postura metodológica da tradutora. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The present article analyzes the translation, into English, of A Crise da Europa, by Abel Salazar, and intends to explore the methodology used in the translation and the options that were made in the production of the target text. The cooperation agreement established between the Casa-Museu Abel Salazar and the ISCAP set the tone for this collaboration which resulted in the publication of the translated book, ensuring the accessibility of Abel Salazar’s legacy to an increasing number of people.This paper aims, not only at making the author’s work available to new audiences, through the publication of his work in what is now the universal language - English -, but also at sheding some light on who Abel Salazar was, in all his superb plurality. The book was written between 1937 and 1942, so the time lag separating the author from the translator resulted, necessarily, in a study of the evolution of the portuguese language, taking into account the different spelling agreements that have been shapingit through the years - a very tangible reality for us, at this particular moment. The time lag between author / source text and translator / target text is evidenced through explanatory examples of situations that clearly illustrate it, as well as reveal the translator’s choices. | pt_PT |
