Abstract(s)
“Same same but different” é um projecto fotográfico que reflecte sobre a homogeneização cultural versus a cultura secular.
Queria crescer americano, comer hot-dog e arrotar coca-cola. Troquei o sabão de
coco pelo shampoo." - “Utopia e barbarie” de Silvio Tendler (n.1950)
Currently the world is known through the images that arrive daily to an individual. Through them is possible to visualize realities that have never been experienced, being a prisoner of preconceptions, "a truth" created by the sight of others. "Same same But different" opposes to the collective memory, a result of media coverage of the Vietnam war, the current reality, where the signs of globalization make themselves noticed in the streets and people of Ho Chi Minh. "Same same But Different" is a photographic project that reflects on the cultural homogenization versus secular culture. The images of this project are the result of many wanderings through the city. Some are indicative of a particular family reality, show other common situations observable by anyone. Images are presented in the form of photographic installation and are accompanied by a sound environment. The use of sound adds to the visual universe the sense of hearing, giving the viewer an intimate experience as if entering a new universe. "My first childhood heroes arrived in the mass culture. I wanted to grow American, eat hot-dog and burp coca-cola. I changed the coconut soap for shampoo." - "Utopia e barbárie" by Silvio Tendler
