Resumo(s)
Economic sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the tourism sector. This article aims to answer the question “What are the actions that enable the implementation of economic sustainability in the tourism sector?”. The article seeks to contribute to a broader discussion by providing an overview of the evolution of research on the concept of economic sustainability over the last two decades. To meet the objective and purpose of the investigation, a rigorous methodology was adopted for the collection, processing, and analysis of information. Scopus and Web of Science are considered databases, as they compile the largest number of articles on a subject. The results identified actions that enable the implementation of economic sustainability in tourism, thereby promoting the development of tourist territories: Governance, Co-creation, cooperation, entrepreneurship, Sustainable Tourism, and Sustainable Management. The article provides valuable information for academics, as well as public and private decision-makers. The innovation of the study is evident in the application of a systematic literature review procedure to identify relevant documents and a narrative analysis to interpret the results.
