A presente dissertação foca-se na análise da integração de práticas sustentáveis na cadeia de abastecimento alimentar, tendo como objeto de estudo a empresa Cerealis. O objetivo da investigação é compreender de que forma é que as práticas sustentáveis influenciam as atividades logísticas, o desempenho ambiental, social e económico das empresas da indústria alimentar e se, em simultâneo, contribuem para a criação de vantagem competitiva.
O problema foi tratado através de uma abordagem mista, incluindo análises quantitativas e qualitativas. Na parte quantitativa, fez-se a análise das perdas alimentares com base nas reclamações dos clientes entre 2024 e 2025 e nas incidências à descarga entre os anos de 2023 e 2025. A análise qualitativa consistiu na realização de entrevistas estruturadas a gestores da empresa, de forma a aprofundar a compreensão dos resultados quantitativos e a conhecer quais as práticas sustentáveis implementadas e os desafios enfrentados.
Concluiu-se que a implementação de medidas sustentáveis tem impacto nas atividades logísticas, uma vez que melhoram significativamente as operações da empresa através da otimização de processos. No entanto, há um trabalho constante para a melhoria contínua numa perspetiva sustentável, reforçando a estratégia da empresa e a vantagem competitiva no mercado.
This dissertation focuses on analyzing the integration of sustainable practices within the food supply chain, taking the company Cerealis as its case study. The aim of the research is to understand how sustainable practices influence the logistics activities and the environmental, social and economic performance of companies in the food industry, and whether, at the same time, they contribute to the creation of a competitive advantage. The problem was addressed using a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative analyses. The quantitative analysis examined food losses based on customer complaints between 2024 and 2025 and on incidents at unloading between 2023 and 2025. The qualitative analysis consisted of conducting structured interviews with company managers, to deepen the understanding of the quantitative results and to identify the sustainable practices implemented and the challenges faced. It was concluded that the implementation of sustainable measures has an impact on logistics activities, as they significantly improve the company’s operations through process optimization. However, there is ongoing work towards continuous improvement from a sustainable perspective, reinforcing the company’s strategy and competitive advantage in the market.
