Abstract(s)
decorreu a Prática Educativa – escolas, turmas e comunidades educativas.
This is the final report of an internship in teaching practice as part of the Master in Music Teacher Education in Elementary School of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. The first chapter contains the characterization of the contexts in which the teaching practice took place – schools, classes and educational communities. The second chapter includes the reflection and theoretical foundation of the choices made over the teaching practice, which resulted of a constant negotiation between the ideals, the music education programs and the children and adolescents involved – their skills, desires and motivations. The third chapter is dedicated to a research project about motivation of children and adolescents, attending elementary school, to participate in singing extracurricular activities and its implications for music education. The contrast observed between the motivation of young people in the classroom and in extracurricular activities inspired the development of this study, undertaken in two contexts: an infant-juvenile choir and an after school singing club. Thinking about the teaching practice is a valuable instrument for teachers, allowing them to evaluate their practice and assess themselves, and bring more consciousness to their action, in order to improve it and make it relevant to the pathways of their students in a changing world.
