Abstract(s)
The management of diversity and inclusion in organizations has become a central theme in contemporary discussions on sustainable and ethical business practices. Diversity is understood as the coexistence of differences among individuals in terms of visible and invisible characteristics, such as gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, among others, while inclusion refers to the creation of an environment where all individuals feel valued and respected. This study aims to analyze the diversity and inclusion initiatives and practices implemented in portuguese organizations that are signatories of the Diversity Charter, seeking to understand the effectiveness of these practices in promoting a more inclusive work environment. To achieve this objective, a quantitative methodology was adopted, with the application of structured questionnaires directed at diversity and inclusion managers. The main results indicate that, despite an explicit organizational commitment to diversity at strategic and documentary levels, there are challenges in the practical implementation of these policies, especially in terms of formal programs and effective communication about diversity. The research highlights that leadership commitment and the development of an inclusive organizational culture are essential factors for the success of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
