Abstract(s)
The need to monitor new methods of teaching has been one of the challenges facing all levels of teaching, especially universities by their need for constant evolution. In collaboration with the constrained prosthesis Department of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Porto, and in particular with the curricular unit of Removable partial denture, identified the need to have a multimedia support to eliminate the gaps specific to a course with many components and diagnostic practices. Is the lack of students, or by the difficulties inherent in a limited physical space, they often fail to see practical procedures unrepeatable, and the condition in the future of the curricular unit. Searched in several repositories, University libraries and Web platforms, a solution to this problem. What if found or was not applicable for teaching methodologies own, or language or by too many inaccuracies. In this sense and to contribute to the resolution of the problem was realized, with the support of the clinical team, a prototype of an educational hypermedia application that provides the focused theme education removable partial denture (PPR) especially on the following themes: introductory content to PPR, classification of partially edentulous arches based on topography according to the classification of Kennedy, components of the skeletal PPR and laboratory practice for the knitting of a skeletal PPR. The use of multiple media types applied in different teaching situations and in the transmission of certain content was one of the foci of this prototype essential having regard to their re-use and adaptation to various possible business scenarios.
