Abstract(s)
The main motivation of this study is the comprehension of the importance of intergenerational relationships of affection to the well-being of the participants. Sharing the same space, but so apart in time, the older ones entail stories and life experience from all that they have gone through, while the younger ones have in them the thrill of the unknown where everything is new. Ones are the product of memories, the others are starting to patent the world yet to decipher. Together, they can build new knowledge, be happier and make a better world. Following a supported theorical base, it was important to understand different concepts: affection, the third and first age development process and the contributions of these relations to the participants. Regarding the empirical study, a qualitative methodology approach was chosen for each case study, consisting of semi structured interviews to the seniors and their respective technical staff, who help by observing and reporting the moments between the two generations. The results showed the importance of these moments to the well-being of the participants, however, due to the number of moments observed, it wasn´t possible mention the existence of new knowledge. It is of paramount importance to incentivize more frequent moments of bonding, with preprogrammed activities, focused on stimulating multiple areas of the participants.
