Abstract(s)
presença no mercado internacional.
Sustainability has become increasingly relevant in the industrial sector, driven by economic, social, and environmental demands. In this context, the present dissertation aimed to analyze the contributions of implementing a production line to the sustainability of a company in the mold manufacturing industry, using indicators representative of the three sustainability dimensions. The dissertation was conducted at Simoldes Aços, a company within the Simoldes Group, specialized in the manufacture of plastic injection molds and with a strong international presence. The implementation of the production line at Simoldes Aços was supported by lean philosophy principles and tools and involved the creation of three production lines in the machining department and two lines in the bench fitting department. The reorganization of the production process resulted in improvements in sustainability indicators. In the economic dimension, there was an 18.2% reduction in lead time until the first trial and a 46% decrease in customer complaints, despite a 24.9% increase in the average internal cost per mold. In the social dimension, a 5.4% increase in the number of employees and a slight improvement in employee satisfaction were observed, along with a significant rise in work-related accidents. In the environmental dimension, reductions of 8.6% in energy consumption, 2.4% in water consumption, and 27.1% in total waste generation were recorded, with a notable decrease in metallic waste.
