Abstract(s)
The objective of this work was essentially to analyse the physical and chemical proprieties of different soils with a view to their categorization, with a particular emphasis in their behaviour applied to the digging off deep foundations with soil stabilization using fluidic polymers. Relatively to the soil polyfasic structure, as well as their nature and amount of fine material present, that in many circumstances accounts for a lower strength in relation to the loading applied during the structures building and lifespan, it seemed relevant to characterize and evaluate the soil proprieties that may have an influence regarding to its behaviour faced with their workability and stability demands. That way, under a geotechnical perspective, it was attempted to approach the main factors that control soil and aggregate mixtures stability, namely the different soil particles calibres distribution, their fine particles ratio and their plasticity. In a first stage a bibliographical study was made, focussing on the laboratorial tests made, the relationship between its various parameters and the basic characteristics of the materials used in soil stabilization. Then, laboratorial tests were made to different soil samples with various origins with the goal to ascertain their physical and chemical characteristics. Lastly, relations between the different studied proprieties of each soil were made, with a special focus on the parameters that have a bigger impact in soil stabilization with the purpose of the installation of deep foundations.
