Abstract(s)
Nowadays, society is at an arduous task of creating a balance between the various dimensions of human life: social, professional and personal. The challenges proposed are increasingly demanding affecting the pace of daily life, so it is necessary to try to maintain balance so that you have as much quality of life as possible. The requirement to try to maintain this balance, associated with the effects of an exhausting daily life, often causes an instability at the cognitive, physical and social level leading to a constant wear and tear of individuals and causing fatigue at the psychological level, as if all their efforts were redundant. Thus, there is an imbalance either at the three-dimensional level that can be translated into states of high exhaustion, reduced relationship with people and feelings of low achievement therefore revealing characteristics that identify Burnout syndrome. Burnout is a syndrome that negatively influences the professional being of individuals and unfortunately still tends to be devalued by organizations. This study aimed to evaluate the Burnout level of a sample of professionals from the financial context, where professions related to finance, economics, management, accounting and/or that provide support functions to audit or consulting companies are included. Given the current situation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, some companies have been forced to change their working method by opting for a teleworking model. The target sample of the study consisted of 151 professionals, and 86.1% of the sample collected exercised relocated functions, a.k.a. teleworking. As such, the methodology of this study was influenced by the current state of the pandemic. The study sample revealed a higher level of exhaustion compared to the other subscales but did not reveal significant levels of Burnout. We also found that there is a positive association between the number of hours worked and the level of Global Burnout.
