Abstract(s)
Agradabilidade no modelo Big Five.
adicionais do modelo Big Five, destacando a Modéstia, a Moralidade, o Altruísmo e a Raiva
Personality, a distinctive characteristic of each individual, plays a crucial role in defining preferences, behaviours, and interactions. Its importance in accurately characterizing individuals has led to its application in recommendation systems, enhancing suggestions in areas such as movies, music, and tourism. Although personality questionnaires have traditionally been used to measure traits, they can be time-consuming and prone to biases, such as inflated responses. In response to these limitations, serious games and gamification techniques emerge as innovative alternatives for personality analysis, studying player behaviour. This study developed and evaluated Mindful Escape, a serious game created in Unity 3D for Android, designed to measure the trait of Cooperation, an aspect of the Agreeableness dimension in the Big Five model. The game adapts everyday concepts such as the Prisoner's Dilemma and the Tragedy of the Commons to create an Escape Room environment that simulates cooperative and competitive interactions. With a sample of 78 participants, recruited from ISEP and professional schools in Vila do Conde, significant correlations were identified between the game's metrics and the trait of Cooperation. Additionally, other 20 additional traits from the Big Five model, including Modesty, Morality, Altruism, and Anger, also showed correlations. Participant feedback was extremely positive, highlighting the immersive and engaging experience offered by the game. A notable overvaluation was observed in traits such as Morality, Altruism, Cooperation, Sympathy, and Duty, suggesting that participants perceived themselves as highly moral and cooperative, which may reflect a tendency towards more positive responses. Despite this subjectivity, the overall validity of the study was not compromised, but it indicates the need to consider this aspect in future samples. All functional requirements were met, except for the game's duration, which exceeded the planned 5 minutes, averaging around 10 minutes. Research questions were successfully addressed, confirming that Mindful Escape is effective in measuring Cooperation and other personality traits, providing a promising foundation for future research and applications in recommendation systems.
