Environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources are becoming increasingly important in organizational management, driven by awareness of environmental vulnerabilities and pressure from stakeholders. The adoption of an Environmental Management System (EMS), in accordance with ISO 14001, enables organizations to achieve and demonstrate adequate environmental performance. This process is based on top management commitment, the definition of environmental objectives and targets, the allocation of resources, and the identification of significant environmental aspects. The implementation of an Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 represents a strategic and natural evolution for organisations that already have a Quality Management System certified under ISO 9001. Integration with ISO 9001:2015 strengthens the coherence between quality and environment, eliminating redundancies and promoting a systemic, risk-based systemic approach. This integrated method optimises resources, drives continuous improvement, and enhances the organisation’s overall performance. The project developed had as its main objective the implementation of the environmental management system according to NP EN ISO 14001:2015 in a company within the Metalworking industry, specifically in the Metalocaima – Metalúrgica do Vale do Caima, S.A, thereby integrating it into the existing Quality Management System based on the ISO 9001 standard. In terms of methodology, an environmental diagnosis of the company was initially carried out, with the aim of characterizing the company's environmental situation. Subsequently, the main environmental aspects arising from the company's activity were identified and assessed. An environmental aspects identification and assessment matrix was then developed, which enabled the identification and classification of significant environmental aspects. The Deming cycle (PDCA) was also used: Plan-Do-Check-Act, in accordance with the provisions of NP EN ISO 14001:2015
