Abstract(s)
A dissertação propõe ainda recomendações
This dissertation analyzes the importance of Information Literacy and Informational Behavior in the digital age, with a focus on the business context. This research is based on the premise that today’s society is largely shaped by Information Technologies, requiring a set of skills from Information Users that enable them to locate, evaluate, use, and share information ethically and efficiently. Through a literature review, key Information Literacy frameworks, Models of Information Behavior, and practical examples of Information Management are thoroughly explored, highlighting the direct influence of these components on the professional routine. The methodology adopted to demonstrate the practical application of these concepts consists on a Case Study conducted at the company “Mestre Alimentar”. Data was collected through an interview with the CEO and a questionnaire administered to the company’s employees. The questionnaire results show that employees possess Information Literacy competencies, particularly in communication, autonomy, and critical thinking. However, some weaknesses were identified regarding the evaluation of information and the use of digital tools in their daily professional activities. The interview reveals leadership efforts to promote good Information Management practices and highlights the need for internal technological training. This study concludes that the development of Information Literacy skills and the implementation of good Information Management practices in organizations are crucial for shaping and applying appropriate Information Behavior in the labor market. In other words, they are essential aspects for the adaptation and future success of organizations in the digital age. The dissertation also proposes recommendations for the continuous improvement of employee Information Literacy competencies and highlights the need to reinforce Information Management as a strategic pillar of the organizations.
