His special issue encompasses a selection of scientific papers presented in the 3rd International Congress on Environmental Health (ICEH2014), which was held in Porto, Portugal, in September 2014, under the theme “Emerging Risks and Challenges for the Environment, Health and Safety.” ICEH2014 was organized by the School of Allied Health Sciences of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESTSP.IPP) and had the special participation of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (OSHA.EU).
The congress was a platform for knowledge exchange, and its success was highlighted by the high quality of the work presented at the plenary lectures, symposia (Human Health Risk and Prevention, Pollution and Environmental Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Indoor Air Quality, Environmental Toxicology, Public Health, Environment and Sustainability, Exposure to Nanoparticles, Healthy and Safe Schools), and technical workshops in the domain of environmental health.
This special issue is aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge gathered at the ICEH2014 and addresses “Emerging Risks and Strategies for Environment and Health Protection.”
The guest editors and the authors thank Professor Sam Kacew, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, for supporting the ICEH2014 through the creation of this special issue. We thank him for his interest and encouragement and for being present at ICEH2014.
