Abstract(s)
This project report the design of an online business model for the wood industry and its implementation, based on the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology that defined and methodologically supported the entire planning and development of an artifact, a digital store. Companies as complex adaptive systems face, due to technological evolution and globalization, continuous challenges of adjustment and adaptation to the organizational context. The dissemination of technology, which is increasingly powerful and assecible, has led to the transformation that is becoming more and more present. In this context, companies need to be agile and flexible, needing to keep up with technological innovation, or at least, they should consider it and test its viability. Considering the importance of new technologies at the service of companies, namely electronic business technologies and having some knowledge of it, the opportunity was identified to create a project that was valued as research work and, at the same time, responded to a need identified in the organization, thus dealing with applied research work. To this end, a literature review was carried out in parallel with a market study. A questionnaire was developed and applied in order to obtain scientific support for the design of the business model. To support the definition of the business model, the Canvas Business Model was used. After defining and validating the business model and defining the technologies, an artefact (online timber sales platform) was developed, subsequently implemented in a test group in order to obtain feedback to make the necessary changes for its publication and entry into production. . This document reports the investigation, development and evaluation of the entire process until its communication in the market for the sale of wood.
