Abstract(s)
objetivo é investigar as razões desse ritual tão presente e expansivo àquela época,
The present essay deals with freedom, analyzing the evolution of Portuguese society between the 1960s and 1980s up to the present day, highlighting a traditional ritual of Portuguese weddings in the 1980s: the act of kissing, a sign of affection and union. The project explores the oral tradition known as "Kiss, Kiss." within traditional weddings, investigating this practice at the wedding of Madalena Matos Fernandes and Luís Cruz, a representative example of similar rituals carried out in Portugal. The study begins with archive images showing several people kissing. The aim is to investigate the reasons for this ritual being so present and widespread at the time, emphasizing its comic, sometimes strange and even liberating side. These images are a starting point for a reflection on the persistence of the ritual and its relevance today, 40 years later. The documentary seeks answers as to why this ritual of freedom in marriages, which is publicly observed, is still alive. As well as providing answers, the film questions the way of life and thinking of the Portuguese population educated between 1960 and 1980, assessing whether and how this perspective has changed over time. Finally, the essay entitled "The Symbolism of Kissing in Social Change" will be prepared, exploring how the gesture of kissing reflected social transformations and the search for freedom in Portugal.
