Abstract(s)
The aerosol industry is extremely competitive in the sense that product innovation and filling technology innovation are fundamental to its success. On the other hand, project management is crucial to the organization’s success, enhancing the company’s productivity and profitability. In the aerosol industry, the cadence of the production line is particularly important, since from the time the empty can enters the line until it goes to the pallet, it passes through several machines with distinct functions and objectives. As such, it is a sector in which labor is necessary, but can be reduced and productivity and profitability increased with the implementation of new innovative machines. The objective of the present work is to manage two equipment installation projects: a sorter and a buffer. The sorter is a piece of separation equipment, which correctly positions valves, actuators, and caps, to later feed the production line and place the respective component in the aerosol. The need to acquire this equipment arises due to the existence of an actuator with a very characteristic shape. The buffer is an equipment that works as a “lung”, allowing the concentration of cans when the line is stopped further ahead for some reason, so that the machines that are before it can continue to operate. This equipment is of great value, since it allows the continuity of production in the most diverse cases. With the management of these projects, it will be possible to improve the production line, increasing its cadence and productivity, and reducing costs, this being the main objective of the management of a project: continuous improvement. This project integrates two pieces of equipment, since, due to material scarcity, it was not possible to complete the sorter installation. However, the investment in this equipment would have a payback in less than two years and would reduce the labor costs of two workers. The buffer was successfully installed, meetings its installation objectives and improving the line’s production continuity.
