A competitividade na indústria contemporânea exige que as empresas otimizem processos,
reduzindo desperdícios e aprimorando a eficiência. Este estudo investiga a implementação de uma
estratégia de análise financeira na Mecwide, uma empresa líder na indústria metalomecânica, com
o objetivo de melhorar a eficiência operacional e fortalecer a gestão financeira de uma unidade de
negócio, adotando uma abordagem de investigação-ação.
O estudo destaca a importância da Mecwide no mercado e identifica a necessidade de
aprimoramento na análise financeira. A pesquisa centra-se nos benefícios competitivos da
implementação de estratégias de análise financeira com o auxílio do Microsoft Power BI. Para
alcançar este objetivo, foram estabelecidos objetivos específicos, tais como compreender a
estrutura financeira atual da unidade Oil & Gas, desenvolver uma estratégia de análise financeira e
avaliar os resultados após a implementação.
A metodologia combina abordagens quantitativas e qualitativas, com ênfase na investigação-ação,
permitindo uma compreensão profunda da situação da empresa e promovendo mudanças
significativas e sustentáveis. O estudo é conduzido pelas fases de planeamento, ação, observação
e reflexão, proporcionando flexibilidade e adaptabilidade ao longo do processo.
Na fase de exploração e tratamento de dados, efetuou-se a análise dos dados recebidos que
estavam expostos em ficheiros de Excel e o processamento dos mesmos utilizando o Microsoft
Power BI. Esta etapa de investigação-ação foi crucial pois permitiu uma compreensão mais ampla
do processo como um todo. A empresa utilizava tradicionalmente os ficheiros Excel, analisados
nesta fase, para efetuar as análises financeiras dos projetos. Inicialmente, testou-se a replicação
dos dados no Microsoft Power BI para avaliar a sua relevância e funcionalidades, visando aprimorar
o conhecimento sobre esta ferramenta e identificar quais as informações dos ficheiros Excel que
deveriam ser mantidas.
No capítulo resultados e discussão, destaca-se a implementação prática da nova estratégia de
análise financeira, com foco nos projetos específicos da unidade Oil & Gas. A análise comparativa
entre os métodos atuais e propostos evidencia os benefícios tangíveis e intangíveis alcançados com
a nova abordagem.
Este estudo conclui que a utilização do SQL Server oferece uma base de dados mais robusta e
precisa quando comparada com a utilização de ficheiros Excel, e que a padronização dos dados é
essencial para análises consistentes. A implementação de uma estratégia de análise financeira
através do Microsoft Power BI mostrou-se bastante vantajosa, melhorando e simplificando a
visualização e compreensão dos dados financeiros da unidade de negócio em estudo.

To achieve this, specific objectives were established, including understanding the current financial structure of the Oil & Gas unit, developing a financial analysis strategy, and evaluating the results after implementation. The methodology combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, emphasizing action-research, allowing a deep understanding of the company's situation and promoting significant and sustainable changes. The study is conducted through the phases of planning, action, observation, and reflection, providing flexibility and adaptability throughout the process. In the data exploration and processing phase, an analysis was conducted on the data received in Excel files, processing them using Microsoft Power BI. This action-research stage was crucial as it allowed a broader understanding of the overall process. The company traditionally used the Excel files, analyzed at this stage, for financial analysis of projects. Initially, data replication in Microsoft Power BI was tested to assess its relevance and functionalities, aiming to enhance the knowledge of this tool and identify which information from the Excel files, which were processed using Microsoft Power BI.
