Esta dissertação questiona e problematiza o Jazz em situação performativa considerando o fenómeno musical como um espaço de ação, criação, interpretação e superação. O objetivo desta dissertação é compreender o jazz enquanto performance.
Procedemos à problematização e identificação da influência dos ritmos afro-cubanos no jazz. Pesquisámos a influência dos ritmos afro-cubanos no jazz que revelaram alguns elementos estilísticos interessantes desenvolvidos durante o último século.
Estabelecemos relações e cruzamentos de diferentes influências no jazz, que são bem patentes e possíveis de identificar, através da audição e análise discográfica de diferentes performances. As influências afro-cubanas e as profundas transformações políticas e sociais que influenciaram a cultura americana e cubana marcaram profundamente o jazz, daí a nossa preocupação de serem devidamente identificadas e analisadas de modo a permitir a compreensão das ações dos músicos e a beneficiar a qualidade da situação performativa.
This thesis questions and discusses Jazz in the performative situation, considering this musical phenomenon as a space of action, creation and overcoming. The purpose of this thesis is to understand one approach in Jazz in the performative situation. We will question and identify the influence of Afro-Cuban rhythms in jazz. Researching the influence of Afro-Cuban rhythms in Jazz, reveals many interesting and stylistic elements that developed during the last century. We have established relationships and the intersection of different influences on jazz, which are recognizable and possible to identify through listening and analyzing different recorded performances. The Afro-Cuban influence and its profound social and political transformations, that have influenced both the Cuban and American cultures, deeply marked jazz. Therefore our concerns are properly identified in order to allow for an understanding of the actions of the musicians in order to benefit the quality of the performative situation.
