Abstract(s)
se convertam numa prioridade do ensino. A escola enquanto instituição
comportamentos.
The children of the present generation are getting more and more precocious. They listen and talk about everything. They are sagacious, intelligent and attentive to the world they discover every day. On the one hand these characteristics call attention, on the other hand they inspire challenges to the responsible parents and, of course, educators. Thus, it is hoped that in the educational field learning and education for citizenship will become a priority of education. The school as an institution is considered as a privileged space for the formation of citizens. It is necessary for teachers to reflect on their pedagogical practice in order to promote in children skills for the full exercise of citizenship. The present investigation goes through the paths of citizenship in order to understand how the consumption and spending of students in school are characterized and what knowledge these and their parents/guardians have about them. At the same time, we seek to understand whether awareness-raising actions have the desired effects on consumption, savings and health. We favoured a research framework from an interpretive perspective and adopted the use of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis tools in a 5th form class. The results of this study made it possible to show that there are many weaknesses and that teachers can foster the development of citizenship competences in children by providing them the appropriate environment in their pedagogical practices. The data obtained also suggest that the tasks developed and the materials used allowed the students to become aware of their consumption, spending and made them change behaviours.
