Abstract(s)
The aim of this dissertation is to present issues involving migration and citizenship, especially women's migration, and to articulate them with performance. Based on my own lived experience as a migrant - being outside and away from my place of belonging - I tried to discuss the facets of life as a migrant and its social, cultural and affective implications. The perspective was to think and reflect on the experience of migration as a moment in which the search, or rather the path I find, comes from choosing art as a way of understanding, acting and comprehending this experience. The literature for this work was constructed by focusing on issues of performance, migration, citizenship and experience. The reading was anchored in a transdisciplinary perspective on the themes, with authors such as Anzaldúa (2015), Larrosa (2015), Suárez (2006) and Taylor (2018); authors who helped me understand and situate myself in the context and territory I occupy. My reading is articulated by the experience of being a woman, a Latina, a migrant and an artist. The performative dimension of the migrant body is discussed in this work in the last chapter, taking as a starting point the discussions by Anzaldúa (2015) and Taylor (2018). The dissertation is divided into three chapters, an introduction and a conclusion.
