Este ensaio, relativo ao trabalho na unidade curricular de Projeto do Mestrado em Comunicação Audiovisual, especialização em Produção e Realização Audiovisual da Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design do Politécnico do Porto, no ano letivo 2017/2018, relata o processo de desenvolvimento de direção de arte da curta-metragem de ficção A Lenda do Galo.
O trabalho prático no filme é suportado teoricamente através do estudo dos vários elementos a considerar na direção de arte, desde o desenvolvimento criativo, passando pela produção até à chegada ao resultado final. Deste modo, foi feita pesquisa extensa sobre a cor, a caracterização das personagens, o espaço, e a sua influência na composição das imagens do filme. Tudo isto e enquadrado pela exigência especial do
filme, de época e de baixo-orçamento.
O objetivo do presente ensaio é reunir informação acerca da teoria e prática da função da direção de arte, e apresentar o caso de A Lenda do Galo como o resultado do estudo das temáticas abordadas.
This essay, pertaining to the Work in the curricular unit of the Master's Program in Audiovisual Communication, specialization in Audiovisual Production and Direction of the School of Media Arts and Design of the Polytechnic of Porto, in the academic year of 2017/2018, reports the development of the production design of the fiction short film The Legend of the Rooster. The practical work in the film is supported theoretically through the study of the various elements of art direction, from the creative development, through the production until the arrival to the final result. For this, extensive research was done on color, the characterization of the characters, space, and its influence on the composition of the images of the film. All this is framed by the special requirements of the project, a low-budget period film. The objective of this essay is to present information about the theory and practice of art direction, and present the case of The Legend of the Rooster as the result of the study of the themes addressed.
