Abstract(s)
In the business world current context, characterized by constant challenges and evolution, Project Management is a determining factor in the success of organizations. In recent years, Project Management gained relevance and has been the subject of several studies, with the aim of improving procedures and ascertain its full potential as a discipline. With all studies establishing how crucial for growth and organizations good standard of work, now is the moment to assess and fully evaluate how project management is being conducted and what can be done to make the best use of these tools. Considering that the concept of development acquires a diagnostic feature, and understanding the inadequacy of carrying out studies in Portugal on project management applied to the footwear industry, this work intends to deepen this research at national level and with it, understand at what development level project management is in the footwear industry. Adopting a mixed methodology, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, it was concluded that only 50% of Portuguese companies in the footwear cluster have standardized Project Management procedures and of those they are still in a reduced maturity point of development. The application of project management across the footwear cluster, the use of consultancy and industry support associations, as well as benchmarking and the search for continuous training are some of the recommendations that the authors refer.
