As crenças
This article analyses Infocommunicational Behaviour in the communications departments of professional football clubs, which operate as complex media companies and adopt a media-oriented and commercialised approach. It analyses how the employee-fan identity influences decision-making in these departments, introducing cognitive biases, such as confirmation and anchoring biases, and mechanisms of irrationality, which compromise objectivity. Irrational beliefs, namely the need for approval and self-downing, which arise in cases such as reputation crises, cause intense anxiety, leading to the implementation of avoidance strategies such as decision procrastination and buck-passing. It is concluded that this vicious cycle paves the way for emotional exhaustion and damage to the organisation's communication effectiveness. As a solution, the adoption of Infocommunication Literacy is proposed as a way of balancing passion and strategy, enhancing critical and rigorous evaluation of information and combating the challenges of the digital age.
