Abstract(s)
The Present Work Held at Continental Mabor, Indústria de Pneus S.A, in the Quality Management, in the Uniformity Department, reveals a big problem during the production process of a tire, which directly affects its uniformity. The inefficient insufflation of carcasses at the time of the coupling of it with the tread package is a critical stage during the construction of a tire, nevertheless, it was never studied the impact and the systematic effect in the radial forces, in this plant, for the new generation of machines. With the increasing of the tire size and the complexity, this small problem is now a big problem. It was proposed a real case for this thesis, in which during the last months there were realized a big amount of studies in the building machines to minimize the problems of non-uniformity of a tire during this production process step. It was necessary to first understand all the production process and with a lot of work and focus on the goal, it was created over time a vast library of analysis and testing in the building machines, so imagining a “map” which initially was unclear and without information, at the end it will become a colorful “map” with all the points connected with each other and to get all of this database of knowledge that didn’t exist until now, it took several hours of study, training and the usage of quality tools that were really important in the statistical evaluation of the problems. Also, the experimental drawings combined with brainstorming’s and Microsoft Excel gave the body and brain for all the statistical analysis throughout this project. To formulate the problem, studies were carried out to analyze the influence of the materials, the various construction machines and the importance of the tire volume. Statistical and quality engineering tools were used to carry out experiment drawings such as Taguchi Methods. In the end an application was made in Microsoft Excel that aims to be a support tool for the Technical Support to Production Department (DATP) containing the best pressure recipes found for each type of tire section. All the recipes of the machines for each type of tire will be changed to the solutions found in this thesis.
