  • Exploring the Iinnovative aspects of CV distributed ledgers based on blockchain
Publication . Silva, F. O.; Pereira, Rui Humberto; Gonçalves, Maria José Angélico; Silva, Amélia Ferreira Da; Moreira Silva, Manuel
Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology aimed at decentralization and transparency. A blockchain record is immutable, which means that once created by an entity, no other can change what enables legitimacy checking. These are key features to ensure the accuracy of records with sensitive information such as the issuance of records of competencies and qualification certificates when issued by certified entities (education institutions, professional formation schools, companies, etc.). This paper aims to identify the most innovative aspects in CV records management systems based on a blockchain paradigm. In order to engage this objective, an assertive literature review of the CORDIS (The Community Research and Development Information Service (https://cordis.europa.eu/)) database was performed and discussed. The results are depicted and enable orientations to future work.
  • Accounting logic and new professional in healthcare: a case study
Publication . Silva, Amélia Ferreira Da
The central place hospitals occupy in health systems transforms them into prime target of healthcare reforms. This study aims to identify current trends in organizational structure change in public hospitals and explore the role of accounting in attempts to develop controls over professionals within public hospitals. The analytical framework we proposed crosses the concept of “new professionalism” (Evetts, 2010), with the concept of “accounting logic” for controlling professionals (Broadbent and Laughlin, 1995). Looking for a more holistic overview, we developed a qualitative and exploratory study. The data were collected trough semi-structured interviews with doctors of a clinical hospital unit. Content analysis suggests that, although we cannot say that there is a complete and generalized integration of accounting information in the clinical decisions, important improvement has been made in that area. Despite the extensive literature developed on this topic, there is any empirical studies of authors are aware that allow us to realize how real doctors in reals day-to-day work integrated these trends of change in theirs clinical decisions.

Digital transformation isn’t all about technology, there is a human side of the story. Leadership is seen as a key issue in any process of change. However, leaders of professional and knowledge-based institutions, like universities, face special demands. The present article aims to synthesize what has been investigated about leadership in the context of University 4.0. A systematic approach was adopted in conducting the literature review. The main body of the article focuses on illustrating five thematic clusters grounded in the literature and identifying co-citation network of each cluster using bibliometrics. Results demonstrate that this is an emerging theme. This paper is the first attempt to systematically review all research that so far has been made available in the broad field of leadership in University 4.0.

Publication . Bonzanini, Osmar António; Silva, Amélia Ferreira Da; Cokins, Gary; Gonçalves, Maria José Angélico
The business economy experienced major changes during the last three decades. The social and economic globalization associated with the fourth revolution put the accounting profession under great pressure toward harmonization and convergence. Still, the route to become a qualified professional accountant varies from country to country all over the world. This paper seeks to understand the evolution of the accounting profession in Brazil and focus on the interaction between higher education institutions (HEIs) and professional bodies, in the context of digital transformation. It is an exploratory study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data about the perception of the directors of first-degree programs regarding the autonomy of HEIs in defining the curricular contents intended to qualify accounting professionals. The findings show that HEIs are highly influenced by the professional order and Ministry of Education. The limitation associated with this research is that it focusses on one particular professional group in one country.
