- O controlo interno no setor bancário português estudo caso BES e NBPublication .
- Digital CT solutions for oncology applications: how to face current market and clinical challanges?Publication . Batista, Célia Catarina Rodrigues; Ventura, Sandra Rua; Wallard, Alexandre; Schmidt, Sebastian; Schmolke, SusanneLung, Liver and colorectal cancer represente greatburdens for the society nowadays and the increase of survivsl rates rely in early detection and treatment enhancement. Computed Tomography (CT) palys a major role in several steps of the clinical pathway in oncology. Artificial Intelligence and overall digital solutions for CT aim to improve medical imaging capabilities, therefore can improve cancer clinical workflows through several features and products, such as Computed Aided Detection capabilities, malignancy prediction and automatic contouring for Radiaion Therapy, among other features. Siemens Healthineers is a pioneer in CT technology, owning one of the largest digital portfolio analysis for lung, liver, and colorectal cancer, and presente somo strategies to potentiate Siemens Helthineers as a market leader regarding digital CT solutions for oncology applications. For lung cancer, T plays a major role throughout all the clinical pathway, with Siemens Helthineers offering diferente digital solutions for each step of the patient journey, however there is a high level of competion, and the clinical needs rely on automation of time-consuming tasks. Focusing on market analysis for Al-Rad Companion Chest CT, the target is broad, but the clinical value compared to competition does not stand out. Finding strategies to increase the added value of the digital CT solutions for Lung Cancer is necessary to gain market shares. Regarding liver cancer, CT plays na importante role in some steps of the clinical pathway, with Siemens Healthineers offering diferente digitl solutions for each step; the comption leve lis médium and the clinical needs rely on liver function nd tumour assessment; regarding market information, syngo. CT Liver Analysis has great added value, however a narrow targetwhich affects the final ROI. Creating solutions with broader application might increase the ROI for digital CT solutions in liver cancer. For colorectal cancer, CT Colonography (CTC) might be essential for certain patients and its role in the future might be crucial for colorectal cancer screening. Siemens Helthineers i sone of the few companies offering a digital solution for CTC, however the competiton is inexistente, and the market assessment relies on the future of CTC in the standard of care for colorectal cancer. Measurements to bring innovation and efficiency to the current complete and complex digital portfolio will allow to achieve a position of market leader in lung, liver, and colorectal CT digital market through empowerment of comercial and clinical value.
- Causal discovery from time series dataPublication . Almeida, Fernanda Ribeiro de; Coelho, Luís; Fraunhofer, Vitor Rolla; Fraunhofer, Vânia GuimarãesThe drive to understand the laws that govern the universe and ourselves in order to expand our view of reality is deeply rooted in humanity. In science, this urge is a robust process filled with challenges and opportunities given the rapidly growing technology-driven volume of time series data. Causal discovery supports science in an innovative and fast-growing manner with the essential goal of uncovering mathematical orders directly from observational data translated into causal association networks. This scientific tool pledges to accelerate growth in various fields, including life sciences. This work approaches the topic of causal discovery on two levels. First, we address the theory of constraint-based methods on detecting and quantifying causal relations, covering how the methods work, the challenges they face, and the opportunities they present. Second, we explore the PCMCI method with an implementation on both synthetic and real-world data. The results of this work found in applying causal discovery in real physiological signals data may provide insights into the prospects and difficulties of causal structure search in healthcare Big Data and, moreover, the advantages of using causal models in prediction.
- Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the european portuguese version of the Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index (WOSI)Publication . Torres, Rui; Faria, Sara Isabel; Cavalheiro, Luís Manuel; Ferreira, Pedro Lopes; Gonçalves, Rui SolesThe Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index (WOSI) is a self-administered questionnaire specifically used to determine the impact of shoulder instability on quality of life. The aim of this study was to translate the WOSI into European Portuguese and analyze its validity and reliability in a population with shoulder instability. The WOSI was translated and culturally adapted from its original version into European Portuguese (WOSIPT). Internal consistency and test-retest analyses were conducted to determine the level of reliability of the scale. WOSI-PT, QuickDASH, and SF-12 questionnaires were applied to 81 patients with symptomatic shoulder instability to assess validity, and reliability was tested by randomly selecting 50 patients within 72 hours using a test-retest design. The reliability of the WOSI-PT was very high, with Cronbach´s alpha equal to 0.97 and an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.98. Regarding the construct validity, the correlation between the WOSI-PT and QuickDASH was high and negative (-0.79). The correlations between WOSI-PT and SF-12 were positive, respectively, moderate with physical (0.66) and low with mental (0.34) health. WOSI-PT is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing the functional impact of shoulder joint instability on quality of life.
