Abstract(s)
implementando o projeto numa empresa acolhedora.
Automation is a crucial technology in logistics, capable of enhancing the competitiveness of companies. The development of an automated storage system is complex and necessitates the optimization of material flow and determination of load handling capacity. The objective of this project is to develop a tool for calculating throughputs in pallet conveyors within automated warehouses, employing the Action Research methodology and implementing the project within a host company. Specific objectives include reducing throughput calculation time, automating the calculation process, improving the understanding of equipment requirements, reducing potential errors, and enhancing the library of calculation tools. This project addresses the development and implementation of this tool, aiming to improve the processes of design, budgeting, and delivery of logistics solutions, as well as obtaining accurate throughput calculations for pallet conveyor systems. The study commenced with a comprehensive literature review on essential concepts related to pallet conveyors, throughput calculation methods, and the significance of precision in these calculations within the industry. This theoretical review served as the foundation for the tool's development. The designed tool encompasses various aspects related to pallet conveyors, including equipment definitions, operational parameters, and cycle time calculations. Moreover, it enables the analysis of complete pallet conveyor systems, identifying potential bottlenecks and calculating the overall flow rate. To validate the tool, simulations were conducted using specialized software. These simulations demonstrated the tool's precision in predicting pallet conveyor throughputs, with percentage variations below 5%, confirming its reliability. The implementation of the tool in the host company resulted in substantial improvements in solution design and budgeting processes, as well as a more comprehensive understanding of the equipment under analysis and the quantity of equipment required for projects. Future work includes expanding the tool's scope to encompass other types of equipment, simplifying the analysis of systems involving transfer or rotary tables, internationalizing the tool to reach a global audience, and adapting it to potential additional standards that the host company may acquire in the future. This project represents a valuable contribution to the host company's library of tools, as well as an enhancement and automation of throughput calculation processes, underscoring the importance of precise tools for calculating throughputs for various equipment types in the industry.
