Abstract(s)
Currently, the market is increasingly competitive and industries aim to profit, through the improvement of their processes. To increase the level of prominence, an implementation of emerging project management practices, which enhance the success of a project throughout its lifecycle. This dissertation was developed and supported by attending a curricular internship in a company in the molds sector, Schneider Form Portugal - SF Moldes, SA, in the Project Management department. It is known that all molds are unique projects, thus requiring the ability to adapt to new requirements and problems. With this in mind, the investigator is concerned with following the entire life cycle of the mold in order to identify and recognize its particularities, dependencies and, subsequently, propose actions to improve the organization. One of the main problems identified in the company was the noncompliance with the number of tests stipulated per mold, causing delays in its delivery and, consequently, customer displeasure and loss of profitability. Thus, and not understood by the researcher, there was no need to propose the implementation of a hybrid project management methodology, in order to create procedures at key moments of mold manufacturing and thus make changes in a timely manner so that the stipulated tests are ensured in the most efficient way. Simultaneously, it was possible to verify that the improvement proposals can have a real impact on the mold production quality, as well as on guaranteeing the fulfillment of the stipulated production, and on the timely delivery of the molds to the customer.
