Abstract(s)
This work has the importance of highlighting standardising and digitising geotechnical data. Currently, the AGS data format is most accepted by the geotechnical community. This format was developed by the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS), which recognised the lack of data exchange between companies and institutions in the geotechnical field around 20 years ago. With this problem well identified by the technicians at Mota-Engil: Engenharia & Construção, S.A. – Department of Geotechnics, another difficulty was encountered, intended to be addressed by inserting data into AGS code. ME-AGS GENERATOR was created and developed for this purpose, making it possible to insert data into an Excel sheet for the AGS format group being worked on and then create the file in ".ags" format. ME-AGS GENERATOR was designed and developed in the MS. Excel© program in Visual Basic for Applications, giving users a more familiar experience when entering data. Since the names of the different headers of the AGS data format are not very intuitive, the development of this application has improved the interpretation of the headers by different users. Hence, each of the other sheets has a "cover sheet" with the translation of the various headers of the AGS data format into Portuguese to be more visually appealing to the user. As far as the case study is concerned, it will be the same one presented by Cruz (2022) — an analysis of a geotechnical prospection campaign for an embankment slope stabilisation project — in which the aim would be to verify the functionality of ME-AGS GENERATOR in geotechnical practice.
