Abstract(s)
Wastewater treatment plants have associated pumping stations that have to operate under a very intense regime. In these installations, one of the most significant plots is the energy consumption of the pumping groups. The ageing of the equipment and the increased maintenance needs associated with the emergence of higher efficiency units makes it periodically important to evaluate the need to replace the installed units. This paper presents different case studies and for each of them, a survey was made. Energy consumption were the focus and solutions are proposed. The present work results from the Curricular Internship that the author did during the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019 at Efacec - Engenharia e Sistemas, SA. In this company, the author was part of the technical team, where she developed a study on energy consumption of the pumping stations belonging to the Ave and Vila do Conde Sul sanitation subsystems, focused on reducing operating costs and improving their efficiency.
