Abstract(s)
The present dissertation describes the entire development of the project carried out in the scope of the curricular unit Dissertation/Project/Internship of the Master’s in the Computer Engineering and Medical Instrumentation. In the last years, there has been an increase in the interest of society in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, either through the increase in the practice of physical exercise or through the implementation of an adequate diet. This trend leads to the creation of several business opportunities, such as the opening of new gyms or the creation of mobile and/or web applications. However, not all applications on the market are the most suitable, as the availability of information and the choice of physical exercises is not made according to the profile and objectives of each user. To overcome the problem presented, the objective was to implement a web application that supports the user in their day-to-day lives, whether during training, physical recovery or when looking for a healthy nutrition plan. To achieve this goal, the system presents to the client a list of physical and therapeutic exercises, a training plan and a nutritional plan, according to their profile and outlined objectives. The information provided to the client are based on an adaptive system (developed with the data from a questionnaire) whose main objective is to satisfy the client’s needs. The work developed during this dissertation resulted in a prototype that fulfills the defined non-functional and functional requirements. The tasks outlined to achieve the objective of the system were carried out successfully. However, and given the current circumstances, acceptance tests and user satisfaction quiz were made using a convenience sample of 10 people. Nevertheless, the result was considered plenty good, because the responses, in general, were positive: the system was considered fast, simple and intuitive.
