Abstract(s)
Assim, a presente dissertação
aumentando a capacidade produtiva e minimizando o seu impacto ambiental. A presente
Over time, humanity's constant development presents an unprecedented range of challenges. The growing increase in the world's population, combined with increasingly higher living standards, has necessarily resulted in a scarcity of resources, and contributed to the climate changes we are experiencing today. In response to this problem, in recent decades, a new concept has emerged: sustainability. This is based on the economic, social, and environmental pillars, which aims to raise widespread awareness among society of the enormous challenge presented and the application of measures to mitigate the problem. Additionally, it is important to highlight that the lean philosophy plays a preponderant role in organizations' processes, aiming to maximize the final value delivered to the customer and reduce waste. Thus, this master's thesis aims to answer the research question: How can the implementation of lean philosophy in an antenna producing company contribute to the promotion and development of organizational sustainability? For its development, the Action-Research methodology was used as a research methodology, characterized by presenting answers to real problems, in an industrial context, at the company Continental Advanced Antenna. The entire study carried out focused on one of the antenna production lines. The development of this research involves the implementation of measures that allow for a reduction in downtime and, consequently, the maximization of line availability. Several lean tools were used such as SMED, A3, 5S, Standard Work, among others, thus allowing the organization to achieve positive results for the organization by increasing production capacity and minimizing its environmental impact. This approach allowed an increase in production capacity of approximately 10%. In addition, it has reduced the environmental impact of the production line through a significant 35% reduction in scrap and a 10% reduction in electricity consumption. Finally, significant advances have been made in the social pillar, allowing employees to participate in decision-making processes 67% of the time. The results of employee surveys made it possible to analyse the positive impact of the implementation of lean tools on safety conditions, with around 89% of employees agreeing, and in relation to the increase in working conditions, 100% approval was obtained. Therefore, an important bridge between these two concepts, sustainability, and lean philosophy, was established, marking the important impact of lean on sustainability.
